
SRINAGAR: Senior journalist and former Bureau Chief of Zee News in Srinagar, Naseer Ahmad, passed away a short while ago, leaving the media fraternity in shock and grief.
A resident of Bemina in Srinagar, Naseer was said to be around 60 years of age. For the last few years, he has been suffering from liver cancer. After quitting Zee News, he shifted to another news channel but was not able to do much owing to his health conditions.
With a career spanning several decades, Naseer played a significant role in covering crucial developments in the region, earning widespread respect for his dedication to journalism.
Apart from his routine work of covering the happenings in Kashmir, Naseer was also actively involved in cultural activities. He had his studio where various cultural events would be recorded.
Colleagues and friends remember him as a committed professional who upheld the principles of fair and responsible reporting. His contributions to the field have been widely acknowledged, and he remained an influential voice in media circles. Many have taken to social media to express their sorrow and pay tribute to his legacy.
Naseer is survived by wife and two daughters.
Family sources said Naseer breathed his last at home and not in the hospital. The funeral prayers will be held in Bemina after Zuhr prayers.
