Kulgam, Jun 10: One of the patients, Gulam Hassan (60 years old) from Avil village of Kulgam, has reported to District Hospital Kulgam with the case of a bolus stuck in the oesophagus, and the patient could not eat for the last 8 days and was persistently vomiting whatever he took, reported to the Accident & Emergency department.
As per officials, the patient was resuscitated with IV fluids, and baseline investigations were done. Keeping in view the gravity of the case, the immediate emergency medical intervention was done, followed by a diagnostic evaluation, and the therapeutic endoscopy was carried out to remove the bolus by a snare under local anaesthesia. The procedure was carried out by Dr. Hakim Mohd Shafi, Consultant Medicine Gastroenterologist, and Dr. Raies Ahmad Hella, Gastroenterologist, and supportive staff member Mr. Zahoor Ahmad under the supervision of Medical Superintendent District Hospital Kulgam Dr. AG Raina.
The patient was immediately allowed to swallow water on the endoscopy table. The patient was subjected to a relook endoscopy. No obstructive pathology was seen except local oedema and hyperaemia, so the patient was discharged successfully with post-procedure care. (Monitoring and Dietary Advice). The patient was asked to follow in OPD.
The final diagnosis was motility disorder of the oesophagus, said officials.
