Former MLA Noor Mohammed Sheikh rejoins PDP

SRINAGAR: In a fresh sign of political realignment in Jammu and Kashmir, former Batamaloo legislator Noor Muhammad is set to rejoin the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), sources confirmed on Tuesday.According to sources privy to the development, Noor Muhammad has conveyed his willingness to return to the party fold, and PDP President Mehbooba Mufti has responded positively to the proposal.“Noor Muhammad expressed his desire to rejoin the PDP, and Mehbooba Mufti has shown readiness to welcome him back,” said a senior party insider. The move comes amid a slow but steady trend of former PDP members returning to the party, which saw a mass exodus of leaders in the aftermath of the abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019.Several key figures had distanced themselves from the party during that politically turbulent period.Notably, just a day earlier, former legislator, Ajaz Ahmed Mir, rejoined the PDP in the presence of Mehbooba Mufti, signaling what many see as a potential revival phase for the party.
