Jammu, Dec 15 : A Sub-Inspector of the Jammu and Kashmir Police sustained injuries after being attacked by a group of alleged miscreants near Bakshi Nagar Police Station in Jammu, officials said on Monday.
An official told news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC that SI Nitin Khajuria was attacked at Gurrah while discharging his official duties. The assailants allegedly assaulted him with sharp-edged weapons and also issued threats using a firearm.
According to officials, a group of six to seven persons travelling in a Thar vehicle bearing registration number JK02DR-6351 reportedly stopped the officer over a phone-related issue and attacked him with sharp weapons (tokas), causing injuries to his head and legs. The attackers are also said to have threatened him with a pistol.
The injured officer was immediately shifted to Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu, where he is undergoing treatment.
A police official said that in connection with the attack, FIR No. 158/2025 has been registered at Police Station Bakshi Nagar, and a case has been taken up for investigation.
Police have taken note of the incident, and further investigation is underway to identify and arrest the accused. (KNC)
