Government Orders Probe into Santosh Trophy Team Selection

Srinagar, Dec 17 : The Jammu and Kashmir government on Tuesday ordered a time-bound enquiry into the selection process of the UT football team for the 79th National Football Championship for Santosh Trophy 2025.

As per Government Order No. 50-JK(YSS) of 2025, an enquiry committee has been constituted to ascertain the factual position regarding the selection of players. The panel will be headed by Director General, Youth Services and Sports, Anuradha Gupta, and includes senior officers from various departments, sports officials and former national-level footballers from Kashmir and Jammu.

The committee has been tasked to examine in depth the procedure followed during team selection and submit its recommendations based on findings. The report is to be submitted within seven days.

The order further states that inputs and comments from the general public will be facilitated by the committee through meetings scheduled for three days each in Jammu and Srinagar.

The enquiry follows media reports and concerns raised over alleged violations of merit-based selection norms for the prestigious national tournament.[KNT]
