Jammu, Feb 16:Two policemen sustained injuries after three inmates, including two Pakistani nationals, escaped from an Observation Home in RS Pura area of Jammu on Monday evening, triggering a high alert in the region.
Official sources said the incident occurred at around 5:15 pm when the inmates allegedly attacked on-duty policemen inside the juvenile facility and managed to flee from the premises.
The escaped inmates have been identified as Karajeet Singh alias Gugga, a resident of Dablehar RS Pura, and two Pakistani nationals, Mohd Sunaullah and Ahsan Anwar, who were lodged at the Observation Home.
Police said the injured personnel were provided medical assistance and are reported to be stable.
Following the escape, senior officers rushed to the spot and a large-scale search operation was launched. Special teams have been constituted to trace and apprehend the fugitives. Raids are being conducted at multiple locations, and security has been tightened across RS Pura and adjoining areas.
Police have taken cognisance of the incident and initiated investigation to ascertain the circumstances that led to the breach.
An official speaking on the condition of annonymit told the news agency Kashmir News Trust that both the injured policemen are stable, however, after first aid they have been sifted to GMC Jammu. He identified the injured policemen as Vinay Kumar and Praveen Kumar. [KNT]
