Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) District President Baramulla Mohd Rafique Rather, in a statement has urged the authorities to take immediate steps for the safe evacuation of Kashmiri students stranded in Iran.
Citing concerns raised by several anxious parents who have approached him, Rather said that the students are living in extreme fear amid the prevailing situation, and their families back home are deeply worried about their safety and well-being. He stressed that the government must act swiftly and take all possible measures to ensure their safe return to their homes in Jammu and Kashmir.
Rafique Rather also appealed to the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to use his good offices to impress upon the Government of India to intervene urgently and facilitate the evacuation process at the earliest.
He further said that the Central Government has, in the past, acted commendably by evacuating stranded Indian citizens from various war-torn countries and ensuring their safe return home. Urging for a similar humane gesture in this case, Rather appealed for a compassionate and prompt response to safeguard the lives and well-being of the students.
He expressed hope that the authorities will respond swiftly to ease the distress of the students and their families.
