Speaker forms House Committee to probe JJM irregularities in J&K

Srinagar, Apr 09: Speaker of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Abdul Rahim Rather Wednesday formed a House Committee to investigate the alleged irregularities in the implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) in the region.

The committee was formed following repeated demands from several members on the floor of the House.

In an official notification, a copy of which lies with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Speaker Advocate Abdul Rahim Rather announced the formation of the committee, led by Hasnain Masoodi.

The panel includes eleven members from different political parties, including M.Y. Tarigami, Ali Mohammad Dar, Rajiv Jasrotia, Ranbir Singh Pathania, Tanvir Sadiq, Javaid Riyaz (Bedar), Muzaffar Iqbal Khan, Rafiq Ahmad Naik, Arjun Singh Raju, and Iftikhar Ahmad.

The committee has been tasked to look into the concerns raised by the legislators regarding the planning, execution, and overall transparency of the Jal Jeevan Mission in Jammu and Kashmir.

Pertinently, members from various parties had flagged issues related to poor execution, lack of transparency and complaints from beneficiaries in different districts—(KNO)
