Body of Kulgam Youth Recovered From Nallah, Was OGW With militant Links: Police

Kulgam: Police on Sunday recovered the body of a 23-year-old youth from a Nallah in Adbal Wattoo area of DH Pora in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district and confirmed that the deceased was an active Over Ground Worker (OGW) with links to militants in Pakistan.

A top police officer told a local news agency that the youth, identified as Imtiyaz Ahmad Magray, son of Nazir Ahmad Magray, a resident of Tangmarg, had confessed to having knowledge of two Pakistani militants and their hideouts.

“During a cordon and search operation, he led the forces towards one of the hideouts near a riverbed. Under close surveillance, including drone recording, he suddenly jumped into the river and died while apparently attempting to escape,” the officer said.

The officer further said that Magray had also been aware of the earlier hideout busted by forces on April 23 in Tangmarg forests, where contact had been established with militants.

“The body was recovered and legal formalities have been initiated,” the officer added.(Agencies)
