Days After Developing Cracks, Portion Of Hajin Road Collapses, Traffic Restricted

Bandipora, Feb 26: A portion of a road along the Jhelum river in Hajin town of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district has collapsed after developing cracks over the past few days, promoting authorities to restrict traffic movement on the road, officials said.

The situation has caused panic among locals, who had been raising concerns about the worsening condition of the road.

Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Manzoor Ahmad Qadri told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the traffic on the road has been restricted as a precautionary measure.

He also said that teams of Irrigation and Flood Control have been mobilized to provide temporary solutions. “Formal tendering process for the project will be completed this week, and the restoration work on the road is expected to begin soon,” he said.

Locals said that they have been noticing the cracks over the past few days, but today a portion of the road collapsed completely, creating fear among the residents.(KNO)
