SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Assembly witnessed an uproar on Wednesday after PDP MLA Waheed-ur-Rehman Parra alleged that his cut motions in the grants were erased. Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather demanded an apology, accusing Parra of misleading the public and media.
On Tuesday, Para had posted on X, calling the JK government “an extension of the Governor’s rule to ratify the August 5 move.”
The Speaker clarified that, under Rule 227, MLAs must submit cut motions three days before the grants are presented. However, Parra’s motions were received only a day before, at 11:37 PM via email, making timely processing difficult. He added that 105 of Parra’s cut motions had been admitted.
Parra countered, stating he followed past practices where late submissions were accepted. His remarks led to a heated exchange with NC members and an Independent MLA, briefly disrupting proceedings.
The Speaker urged calm, insisting Parra should name the official who allegedly told him his motions would not be admitted.
