Encounter breaks out in Kathua

Kathua, Mar 23: A gunfight broke out between security forces and militants in Sanyal area of Hiranagar in Kathua district of Jammu, sources said on Sunday.

Sources told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that on specific inputs about the presence of militant in Sanyal, a joint team of forces launched a cordon and search operation in the area.

On intensifying search operation towards the suspected spot, thebhiding militants fired upon the forces, triggered an encounter, they said.

As per the sources, a group of militants affiliated with Jaish-e-Muhammad are believed to be trapped in the area—(KNO)
