Ahmedabad: The devastating Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad brought heartbreak to Rajasthan after claiming the lives of an entire family from Banswara who were en route to start a new chapter of life in London. Among the 10 confirmed fatalities from the state, five belonged to the family of Pratik Joshi, a name now etched into the collective grief of Banswara.
Pratik Joshi had been living in London for the past six years. A software professional by background, Joshi had long envisioned building a future abroad for his wife and three young children. That vision was finally becoming reality this week, but fate intervened with cruel finality.

Onboard the ill-fated flight with Pratik was his wife, Dr Komi Vyas, a medical professional who had tendered her resignation just two days earlier to prepare for their permanent move. Their three children, including five-year-old twin daughters, were accompanying them on the journey.
Locals recall the couple as a symbol of aspiration and determination – both highly educated, deeply committed to their professions, and devoted to their children. The news of their death sent shockwaves through Banswara, with friends, relatives, and former colleagues reeling from disbelief.
“The entire town is grieving,” said a close family friend, adding that they were a warm, progressive couple who wanted the best for their children.
The tragedy has cast a pall not just over Banswara but across the entire state, as more names from Rajasthan emerged from the list of flight crash victims. Apart from the Joshi family, four residents of Udaipur also perished in the crash, including Shubh Modi (24) and Shagun Modi (22), children of renowned marble businessman Pinku Modi. The siblings had been pursuing higher studies and were travelling together.
Also among the deceased were Vardi Chand Menaria and Prakash Menaria, hailing from Rundeda village in Udaipur district, and 27-year-old Khushboo Rajpurohit from Balotra, known for her volunteer work in women’s education.(Agencies)
