The delegation expressed serious concern over the apathetic attitude of certain lower-level government officials, who reportedly fail to respond to genuine grievances raised by PDP leaders. It was pointed out that District Development Council (DDC) members are being sidelined in the formulation of developmental plans by some Block Development Officers (BDOs), thereby undermining grassroots democracy. Specific instances were shared with the DDC, wherein Gram Sabha proposals were allegedly discarded due to political interference by National Conference (NC) MLAs.
Issues of road connectivity were also discussed in detail. The delegation raised strong concerns over the dilapidated condition of the National Highway from Sangrama to Delina and the Khawajabagh–Main Market Baramulla– Khanpora road. The DDC assured that the suggestions presented would be taken into account. Notably, BEACON officials were also present in the meeting and were apprised of the sufferings of the people.
The poor state of the Azadgunj–Khadniyar road was also highlighted, to which the DDC responded that ₹1.65 crore had already been sanctioned for its repair, and work would commence soon.
Water shortages in Baramulla town and irrigation-related issues in certain rural areas were also discussed at length. The delegation urged immediate intervention to ensure adequate water supply for both drinking and agricultural purposes. The administration assured prompt action and necessary redressal.
Beautification of the Jhelum riverbanks was another key issue taken up during the meeting. The DDC assured the delegation that the project would be pursued once the requisite funds are made available. Relocation of the MC office from the community hall was also discussed.
The PDP delegation reiterated the party’s commitment to participatory and equitable development and urged the administration to ensure transparency, accountability, and fairness in all public welfare initiatives.
