Jammu, Dec 3 : The Jammu and Kashmir Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, met in Jammu on Wednesday morning and approved several departmental proposals, including promotions in the Roads and Buildings (R&B) Department and the establishment of the Animal Protection Board, officials informed KNS.
The meeting, held at the Chief Minister’s Jammu residence at 9 am, focused on key administrative and developmental issues. Senior officials said matters related to electricity, reservation policies, and winter preparedness were also taken up for discussion.
A detailed proposal regarding promotions and service-related matters of officer cadres in the R&B Department received approval after thorough deliberations. The Cabinet also sanctioned financial support to cooperative societies working in the livestock and fisheries sectors to enhance their functioning.
Cabinet Minister Javed Rana told reporters that several agenda points were cleared, emphasizing the government’s aim to address pending administrative matters efficiently.
“There were also some minor issues discussed, but the main agenda centered on the promotions and proposals of R&B Department officers. Their seniority has now been confirmed,” Rana said.
He added that he had recommended support for the pawns and anglers community, noting that cooperative societies play a vital role in assisting them. “Funds have been allocated to strengthen these societies,” he said.
Rana further announced that the Cabinet approved the establishment of the Animal Protection Board to streamline livestock-related regulations and welfare mechanisms.
Regarding daily wagers, he said the matter was discussed in detail. “The Chief Secretary has been directed to submit a report at the earliest as the issue of daily wagers across various departments is serious. The government has a responsibility toward them, and we want justice to be ensured,” he said.
According to sources, the meeting concluded with instructions to expedite pending departmental reports and to ensure prompt implementation of all decisions taken during the session. (KNS)
