Rajouri, Dec 04 : Government Medical College (GMC) Rajouri has issued a formal rebuttal after reports circulated on social media alleging that a female nursing student from Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) had been admitted to the hospital following torture by a teacher.

In an official clarification, the hospital administration, as per news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC, stated that the viral news is factually incorrect and misleading.

“It has been verified through hospital records and enquiries with the concerned staff that no student by the name of Shehreen or Fehreen has visited the OPD, Emergency, or been admitted to GMC Rajouri,” the clarification reads.

The Medical Superintendent further stated that no BGSBU student is currently receiving any form of treatment at Government Medical College & Associated Hospital Rajouri.

The administration urged the public not to fall prey to unverified and sensationalised information circulating on social media.

The clarification has been issued by the Medical Superintendent, AH-GMC Rajouri, and endorsed by the Principal, Government Medical College Rajouri. Copies have also been forwarded to the District Development Commissioner, DIO Rajouri and the Press Club.

Earlier, some social media posts had claimed that a female B.Sc Nursing student from BGSBU was allegedly subjected to harsh physical punishment by a Kerala-based teacher on campus. The student, reportedly suffering from a heart ailment, purportedly collapsed and was later taken to GMC Rajouri for treatment.

According to those reports, the teacher had allegedly forced her to perform repeated sit-stand punishments and frog jumps, leading to her falling unconscious. Family members had reportedly sought action from the university administration.

However, GMC Rajouri has categorically denied all such claims, confirming that no such student has been brought to the hospital.
