You Divided J&K, We Demand Even Ladakh’s Reunification: CM Omar Abdullah Targets BJP

Srinagar, Jan 25:Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Sunday accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of initiating the bifurcation of the erstwhile state, asserting that his party has always stood for a united Jammu and Kashmir, including Ladakh.

Abdullah was responding to remarks by BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh, who said that the BJP believes in a fully united Jammu and Kashmir, including Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

“It is good that he has said this, but the idea of division was started by the BJP itself,” Abdullah told news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS).

“We have always wanted Jammu and Kashmir to remain one entity. It was the BJP that separated Ladakh, and even today, we demand that Ladakh be reunited with Jammu and Kashmir,” the Chief Minister said.

He further stressed that his party has never supported separating Jammu from Kashmir. “Jammu and Kashmir should never have been divided. We are not in favour of Jammu being separated from Kashmir. It is the BJP and some of its allies in Kashmir who promote such divisive narratives,” he added.

Earlier, Tarun Chugh stated that the BJP believes in a fully united Jammu and Kashmir, including the parts of PoK that are under Pakistan’s control. He also said that the party is committed to equitable development across the entire region and criticised what he termed as “divisive politics” by other parties.(KNS)
