Shantmanu Appointed as J&K State Election Commissioner

Jammu, Feb 17: The Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, on Tuesday appointed Shantmanu, IAS (Retd.), as the State Election Commissioner for the Union Territory of J&K.


According to a notification issued by the General Administration Department (GAD), the appointment has been made under sub-section (3) of Section 36 of the Jammu and Kashmir Panchayati Raj Act, 1989.


The notification stated that Shantmanu will hold office for a period of five years or until he attains the age of 70 years, whichever is earlier. The appointment will take effect from the date he assumes charge.


The government further said that the terms and conditions of his appointment will be notified separately.
