14 million Iranians, including himself, ready to sacrifice lives, says Iran’s President

Tehran: Iran’s President has claimed that around 14 million Iranians have voluntarily expressed readiness to sacrifice their lives if war breaks out, as tensions escalate ahead of a U.S. deadline.

In a post on X, Pezeshkian stated that millions of citizens—including himself—have signed up for what he described as a “sacrifice campaign.” He emphasized that he, too, is prepared to give his life for Iran.

The statement comes just before a deadline set by former U.S. President , who warned of possible military strikes on Iranian infrastructure—such as power plants and bridges—if Iran fails to reopen the .

The figure of 14 million is significantly higher than earlier estimates reported by Iranian state media regarding volunteer numbers. Iran’s total population is approximately 90 million, highlighting the scale of the claim.

Observers believe the announcement may be intended to deter potential U.S. military action by signaling strong public mobilization and national resolve amid escalating regional tensions.
