NC should keep Congress informed on matters concerning J&K: G A Mir

Anantnag, May 07 : Senior Congress leader and AICC General Secretary Ghulam Ahmad Mir on Thursday said its alliance partner, National Conference should keep the Congress informed from time to time on issues concerning the Union Territory.

Speaking with reporters in Anantnag, Mir, per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said major matters should also be discussed with the Congress central leadership and that this aspect appears to be missing at present.

Mir said the biggest leader in the coalition and jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah should take the initiative to bridge the communication gap.

He also said that Congress’ larger vision has always been to strengthen secular forces across the country and counter communal politics, but cautioned that the party’s secular outreach should not be viewed as its weakness.

He said Congress has coordinated and allied with smaller and regional parties with the intention of strengthening secular politics across the country.

Mir said the party’s approach should not be interpreted as weakness. “It should not appear that only Congress keeps taking initiatives while others merely enjoy the benefits,” he said—(KNO)
