J&K Government to File Review Petition in Supreme Court on TET Issue: Sakina Itoo

Srinagar, May 31, Jammu and Kashmir Minister for Education, Social Welfare and Health, Sakina Itoo, on Saturday said that the government has taken proactive steps regarding the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) issue concerning J&K teachers and is committed to safeguarding their interests.

In a post shared on her X handle, Sakina Itoo stated that the government has consistently pursued the matter and followed it up with concrete action. She said that the administration has always acted responsibly to protect the interests of teachers.

The minister informed that the government has accorded sanction to file a review petition before the Supreme Court in connection with the TET matter. She said the Department of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, through a communication dated May 26, 2026, has directed its Standing Counsel to initiate the necessary legal proceedings.

According to the minister, the review petition has already been prepared and is expected to be filed before the Supreme Court in the coming week.

Reiterating the government’s commitment, Sakina Itoo said that all possible efforts are being made to ensure that the concerns of teachers are effectively represented and addressed through legal channels.

“The government remains fully committed to safeguarding the interests of our teachers,” she said in the post.

The development is being viewed as a significant step by the government towards addressing concerns raised by teachers over the TET issue and seeking legal relief through the apex court.
