NC will not repeat PDP mistake to join BJP: Nasir Aslam Wani

Srinagar, April 15: National Conference (NC) leader and advisor to Chief Minister, Nasir Aslam Wani on Monday while addressing the reporters ruled out any alignment between his party and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), stating that the National Conference and BJP are “not on the same page in any regard.”

When asked about any common understanding between the NC and BJP, Wani clarified, “We will not repeat the mistake PDP made. There is no common ground between us and the BJP.” Taking a dig at the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), he added that the party rather than criticizing the NC, should introspect on its past actions and the political decisions it took during its tenure.

Further while commenting on the controversial Waqf Bill, Wani strongly criticized the move, calling it an “attack on our religion.” He said, “Like other organizations, we have also submitted a petition in the Supreme Court. This is injustice, clear interference in religious matters.”

The Waqf Bill has sparked widespread criticism in Jammu and Kashmir, with several political and religious bodies alleging that the legislation undermines the autonomy of Waqf Boards and interferes with religious institutions.(Agencies)
