Jammu-Srinagar Highway to Remain Closed Tomorrow: Traffic Official

Srinagar, Apr 20:The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) will remain closed for vehicular movement on Monday due to incomplete restoration work, officials said Sunday night.

A traffic official told news agency JKNS that “the Incessant rains hampered the restoration work on the highway. As the work could not be completed till 8 PM, vehicular movement will remain suspended tomorrow.”

“People are requested not to undertake any journey on the Jammu-Srinagar NHW, particularly between Nashri and NAVYUG Tunnel, until the restoration work is fully completed and the road surface is declared traffic-worthy,” official said.

Continuous rainfall over the past few days has triggered landslides and shooting stones at multiple stretches along the vital highway, disrupting the only all-weather road link connecting the Valley with the rest of the country. (JKNS)
