NC MP Mian Altaf to miss all-party delegation visit abroad due to upcoming  Urs

Srinagar, May 22: National Conference Member of Parliament for the Anantnag-Rajouri constituency, Mian Altaf Ahmad, who was part of an all-party delegation being sent by New Delhi to various countries to project India’s message of zero tolerance against terrorism, is likely to miss the scheduled visit due to the upcoming annual Urs of Hazrat Mian Nizamuddin Kiyanvi (RA), also known as the Baba Nagri Urs.

Sources said that in view of the Urs, observed in the first week of June every year at Wangath, Kangan, Mian Altaf—who is also the Sajada Nasheen of Ziyarat Baba Ji Sahib Larvi Wangath—will not be able to join the delegation.
Mian Altaf is currently engaged in religious responsibilities at home and overseeing arrangements for the Urs, which is attended by tens of thousands of devotees from across Jammu and Kashmir.

When contacted, NC MP Mian Altaf Ahmad confirmed to Greater Kashmir that he would not be able to join the all-party delegation this time due to his commitment to the annual Urs at Wangath.

“Yes, my party had recommended my name for the all-party delegation, but due to some unavoidable work related to the upcoming Urs in the first week of June, I will not be able to join the delegation,” he said.

“I have already conveyed this to my party and the concerned ministry in New Delhi, and they have raised no objections.(Agencies)
