Hearts will truly connect when our Heroes are respected: Mehbooba Mufti

Srinagar, July 13 (KNS): Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and PDP President Mehbooba Mufti on Sunday said that true unity between Kashmir and the rest of India will be possible only when Kashmir’s heroes are given the same respect as national icons like Mahatma Gandhi and Bhagat Singh.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Mehbooba said, “The day you accept our heroes as your own, just like Kashmiris have embraced yours that day, as Prime Minister Modi once said, the ‘dil ki doori’ (distance of hearts) will truly end.

She criticized the restrictions placed on Martyrs’ Day, saying people were locked in their homes and stopped from visiting Mazar-e-Shuhada (Martyrs’ Graveyard).

“Laying siege to the Martyrs’ Graveyard says a lot. July 13 marks the sacrifice of those who rose against oppression, just like many others across the country. They will always remain our heroes,” she said.(KNS)
