Body of Drowned Baramulla Man Recovered After Two-Day Search

Baramulla, July 21: The body of a man who had drowned in River Jhelum at Azad Gunj Baramulla was recovered on Monday morning, two days after he went missing.

An official told news agency JKNS that the deceased has been identified as Abdul Aziz Najar, 55, a resident of Wenkura Baramulla, who jumped into the river on Saturday, July 19, under unknown circumstances.

Eyewitnesses said the man leapt into the water at around 10:30 AM, prompting immediate alerts to authorities. Rescue teams from SDRF led by incharge Ab Rasheed Beigh and his team, J&K Police, and local volunteers launched an extensive search operation that spanned over 48 hours.

The body was finally recovered near Veerwan Pandith Colony and shifted to a nearby hospital for medico-legal formalities. Police have taken cognizance of the incident and further investigation is underway. (JKNS)
