Former MLA Karnah Kafil Ur Rehman joins PDP

Srinagar, Aug 03 : Former National Conference (NC) MLA, Kafil-ul-Rehman joins Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)

Kafil joins PDP today at a function held at Party office in Srinagar in presence of Party President Mehbooba Mufti.

Kafil-ul-Rehman, who previously served three terms as an MLA, was denied a party ticket for 2024 Assembly elections. The decision followed NC’s poor performance in Karnah Assembly segment during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, where the party finished third behind the Awami Ittehad Party and the Peoples Conference.

In 2024 Assembly polls, NC fielded Javaid Ahmad Mirchal from Karnah, who secured victory by defeating Peoples Conference candidate Dr. Naseer Ahmad Awan with a margin of 6,262 votes.
