Two CRPF Personnel Dead, Several Injured as Vehicle Falls Into Gorge in Basantgarh Udhampur

Udhampur, Aug 7 : At least two CRPF personnel lost their lives while several others sustained serious injuries after a paramilitary vehicle met with an accident and plunged into a deep gorge in the Basantgarh area of Udhampur district on Thursday.

Officials told Kashmir News Corner —(KNC), that the vehicle, carrying a group of CRPF jawans, skidded off the road and rolled down into a steep gorge, prompting a major rescue operation by locals, police, and rescue teams.

“Two bodies have been recovered so far from the accident site, while several injured personnel were rescued in critical condition and shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment,” an official said.

The vehicle was extensively damaged and the depth of the gorge made the rescue efforts challenging. Police and rescue teams, including SDRF, are on the spot and efforts are underway to ensure that all injured are evacuated. Senior officials have also rushed to the site to monitor the situation.

Further details are awaited. (KNC)
