Situation Serious In Jammu, Flying To Monitor Personally: CM Omar

Srinagar- Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday said the situation in many parts of Jammu province was “quite serious” and announced that he would be flying from Srinagar to Jammu to personally monitor developments.


Moderate to heavy rains lashed Jammu division for the third consecutive day on Tuesday. Almost all the rivers and streams are flowing above or close to the danger mark, submerging a number of low-lying areas and roads in the city and elsewhere.

In a post on X, Omar wrote: “The situation in many parts of Jammu province is quite serious. I’ll be taking the next available flight from Srinagar to Jammu to personally monitor the developing situation. In the meantime, instructions have been issued to place additional funds at the disposal of the DCs to cover emergency restoration work and other exigencies.”

The Chief Minister also chaired a high-level meeting in the morning to review the flood mitigation measures in Jammu , directing officials to remain on high alert and ensure all necessary measures are put in place to tackle any emergency.
