Mehbooba Mufti Condemns ‘Bulldozer Action  in Varanasi, Elderly Father of Olympian Pleads to Save Home

Srinagar,Oct 4: Former Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has condemned a heart-wrenching incident in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, terming it an example of “bulldozer justice.”

In a tweet, she highlighted a viral video showing the elderly father of Padma Shri awardee and Olympian Mohammad Shahid standing before a demolition squad, hands folded and voice trembling, pleading for just a single day to save his home.

Mehbooba Mufti wrote: “While CJI Justice B.R. Gavai speaks of India being governed by the rule of law, not the rule of the bulldozer, here’s a heartbreaking video from Varanasi. The elderly father of Padma Shri awardee and Olympian Mohammad Shahid stands before a demolition squad, hands folded, voice trembling, begging for just a single day’s time to save his home. But no one is listening. If this isn’t bulldozer justice, then what is?”

Despite his desperate appeals, authorities went ahead with the demolition.

The incident has ignited widespread outrage on social media, with critics questioning both the legality and humanity of such actions.
