Two on-duty men hit by vehicle killed at Chingi in Sopore

Sopore, Oct 20: Two persons discharging duty at ‘Chingi’ near Chinar Crossing in Sopore on Monday evening were killed after hit by a speeding vehicle.

According to reports, two individuals were deployed at Chingi (entry point) for vehicle entry checking and they were hit by a vehicle (JK02BW-2197).

Both of them were shifted to Sub District Hospital (SDH) Sopore and one of them, Bilal Ahmad, 29, son of Wazir Ahmad, a resident of Saidpora, was declared brought dead to on arrival while another person, identified as Shahid Hilal, 25, son of Hilal Ahmad Shah, resident of Nadihal Rafiabad was shifted to SKIMS Soura for advanced treatment.

However, he too succumbed to the injuries. Police have taken cognizance of the incident and registered a case under FIR No. 233/2025 at Sopore Police Station under relevant sections of law. Investigation has been set into motion, a police official told GNS. He said that the driver of the vehicle has been arrested. (GNS)
