NC Panel Adopts Seven Resolutions, Seeks Urgent Restoration of Statehood

SRINAGAR: The Working Committee of the National Conference, which met on November 27 and 28, 2025, unanimously passed a series of key political resolutions, reaffirming its demand for the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s special status and immediate reinstatement of full statehood.

In its first resolution, the Committee reiterated its “unwavering commitment” to the restoration of the region’s special status, calling it central to the aspirations and dignity of the people. The second resolution urged the Government of India to restore statehood without delay, noting that the assurance had been made repeatedly in Parliament and acknowledged by the Constitution Bench of the Supreme Court.

The Committee also condemned the recent terror attack in Delhi, expressing serious concern and extending condolences to the bereaved families. It said violence had no place in a civilised society and called for decisive action against those responsible.

On the Nowgam blast, the Working Committee voiced deep concern and demanded a high-level investigation. It said accountability must be fixed for any deviation from standard operating procedures.

Highlighting growing reports of harassment of students, traders and residents of Jammu and Kashmir across India, the Committee condemned their “selective targeting” following recent events. It stressed that Kashmiris must not be stereotyped and urged state governments to ensure their safety, dignity and protection. “Not every Kashmiri is a terrorist or a supporter of terror,” it said.

The party also reaffirmed its commitment to fulfilling its manifesto promises, asserting that the pledges made to the people would be honoured in full.

In its final resolution, the Working Committee unanimously extended full support to the government led by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and urged it to continue working to uphold the aspirations and dignity of the people.
