‘First Day, First Show’: Omar Abdullah Praises Ramzan’s Statement in Parliament

Srinagar, Dec 01: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday welcomed the intervention made by National Conference leader Chowdhary Mohammad Ramzan in the Rajya Sabha, where the issue of restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir was raised on the opening day of the Parliament session.

In a post on social media, Omar Abdullah said Ramzan had used the very first available opportunity in the Upper House to remind the Union government of its commitment to restore statehood to Jammu and Kashmir. He described the move as timely and significant, signaling the party’s intent to keep the issue alive in Parliament.

The post quoted Ramzan as having said that the elected government in Jammu and Kashmir has been left with “no powers” and that real authority continues to remain with the Lieutenant Governor.

The National Conference also posted a statement asserting that the J&K government has been rendered ineffective and that all major administrative authority rests with the LG. (KNT)
