Itanagar, Dec 23: Police in Arunachal Pradesh have arrested two more residents of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district in connection with an alleged espionage case, taking the total number of arrests to five, officials said on Tuesday.
Inspector General of Police (Law and Order) Chukhu Apa said the accused, identified as Aijaz Ahmed Bhat and Bashir Ahmad Ganai, were arrested on December 18 and brought to Arunachal Pradesh, where they are currently in police custody.

The case surfaced on November 21 following the arrest of two other Kupwara residents, Nazir Ahmad Malik and Sabir Ahmed Mir, on specific intelligence inputs. Another accused, Hilal Ahmed, was later arrested from Aalo in West Siang district.
Police said one person earlier detained from Changlang district was released due to lack of evidence. Further investigation is underway and more arrests are not ruled out, officials added.
