No Issue Can Be Resolved Through Military Conflict: PM Modi

New Delhi: Prime Minister on Thursday said that conflicts around the world cannot be resolved through military confrontation and called for a swift end to ongoing wars in West Asia and Ukraine.

Modi made the remarks after holding wide-ranging talks with during his official visit to India. Addressing a joint press conference in New Delhi, Modi said both India and Finland strongly support dialogue, diplomacy, and adherence to international law.

“India and Finland believe in the rule of law, dialogue and diplomacy. We are in agreement that no issue can be resolved through military conflict alone,” the Prime Minister said.

Referring to the ongoing crises in and , Modi stressed that India will continue to support all efforts aimed at achieving peace and stability in the regions.

“Be it Ukraine or West Asia, we will continue to support the swift end of conflicts and every effort towards peace,” he added.

During the meeting, both leaders also agreed to elevate cooperation between and in areas such as digitalisation and sustainability to the level of a strategic partnership.

Modi said collaboration in advanced technologies—including artificial intelligence, 6G telecommunications, clean energy, and quantum computing—will strengthen bilateral cooperation and open new opportunities for both countries.

He also expressed confidence that the proposed India–European Union free trade agreement would significantly boost economic ties.

“This agreement will further strengthen trade, investment and technology cooperation between India and Finland,” Modi said.

President Stubb began his four-day visit to India on Wednesday with the aim of expanding bilateral cooperation across several sectors, including trade, investment, and critical technologies.
