All Educational Institutions in Kashmir to Reopen from Monday

Srinagar, Mar 8: The Jammu and Kashmir government has decided to reopen all schools, colleges, and universities across the Kashmir Valley from Monday after reviewing the ground situation.

Speaking to the news agency KNO, Education Minister Sakina Itoo said that academic activities will resume in all districts of the Kashmir region.

“After taking a review of the ground situation, we have decided to reopen the educational institutions in all districts of Kashmir from Monday,” she said.

The government had earlier ordered the temporary closure of educational institutions to ensure the safety of students following protests that erupted in different parts of Jammu and Kashmir after the killing of in joint US-Israeli strikes.

Meanwhile, schools up to Class 8 will also reopen after a winter break that lasted for more than two months. Earlier, classes from 9th to 12th standard had already resumed on February 23 after the winter vacation.

Colleges in the Kashmir Valley had resumed academic activities earlier after a 52-day winter break announced by the Higher Education Department.

With the reopening of institutions, normal academic activities are expected to resume across the Kashmir region from Monday.
