PDP Pays Glowing Tributes to Veteran Religious Scholar and Social Reformer Ghulam Nabi Zaki

The Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed profound grief and sorrow over the demise of noted religious scholar, social reformer, and political activist Ghulam Nabi Zaki, who passed away at his Sopore residence yesterday.

In a statement issued, PDP leader and District President Baramulla Mohd Rafique Rather paid rich tributes to the departed soul, describing late Zaki as a towering personality whose life was marked by unwavering commitment to truth, justice, and the upliftment of society.
“Ghulam Nabi Zaki Sahib was not merely a scholar, but a movement in himself. He dedicated his entire life to the cause of social transformation and political awakening at a time when society needed courageous voices and principled leadership. He was a deeply pious and God-fearing man who devoted his life to public service, especially to the welfare of the poor, the needy, and the marginalized,” the statement read.

Highlighting his association with Shaheed-e-Millat Molvi Mohammad Farooq Sahib, Rather said that Zaki remained a trusted aide and later served as Secretary General to Dr Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, reflecting the confidence reposed in his integrity and leadership.
“Late Zaki Sahib stood firm during the most testing times, facing intimidation and long incarceration without compromising his principles. His courage and steadfastness will remain a guiding light for future generations,” he added.
Rather said Zaki’s contributions towards building a morally conscious and politically aware society will always be remembered with deep respect.

Extending condolences to his son Ashaq Zaki, Chairman Civil Society Sopore , Rafique Rather said the entire PDP leadership stands in solidarity with the bereaved family and shares this irreparable loss. He prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul and strength to the family to bear the loss.
