No threat of floods, says Div Com Kashmir amid incessant rains

Srinagar, Mar 15: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri today said there is no threat of floods in Kashmir valley, and the authorities are monitoring situation on hourly basis. He also said that the relentless downpour has almost compensated the deficit of rains.

Speaking to reporters here, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir expressed contentment over ongoing rains in Kashmir valley, saying people were craving for precipitation as the decrease of water level in rivers and springs had left orchards and agricultural land dry.“It is great that rains occurred relentlessly from last few days in Kashmir valley, which almost compensated the deficit. People were praying and it happened in the holy month of Ramadhan,” he said.

He said there is no threat of floods and authorities are monitoring situation with high alertness.

“The administration is monitoring all points on hourly basis and there is no need to worry. As of now there is no threat of floods, and the situation is under control. All points are being checked on hourly basis to keep eye on situation,” he said.
