Omar Abdullah calls Iran war ‘unjust and illegal’, urges PM Modi to intervene

Jammu, Mar 27: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday strongly condemned the ongoing war involving Iran, describing it as “unjust and illegal,” and appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to use India’s diplomatic influence to help end the conflict.

Speaking in the Legislative Assembly, Abdullah said he was making the statement on behalf of himself and his colleagues after several members of the National Conference sought a response on the issue. BJP legislators, however, objected, stating that the Iran crisis was an international matter and did not fall within the Assembly’s jurisdiction.

“On behalf of myself and my colleagues, I strongly condemn this unjust and illegal war imposed on Iran,” Abdullah said. He also expressed condolences over the deaths of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and others who have lost their lives in the conflict.

The Chief Minister further urged the Prime Minister to use all available diplomatic channels to help bring the war to an end at the earliest. He said such efforts would not only serve India’s interests but would also be beneficial for humanity as a whole.

The remarks come amid escalating tensions in the Middle East, which have raised global concerns over regional stability, energy security, and civilian casualties.
