Police Raid Houses of Top Separatist Leaders in Srinagar as Part of UAPA Probe

Srinagar, Mar 26: Police carried out raids at multiple locations in Srinagar and Sopore, targeting the residences of several top separatist leaders, most of whom are currently lodged in different jails. The searches were conducted as part of ongoing investigations into cases registered under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA)

Officials said the cases pertained to banned organizations, including the Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference (Bhat Group), Jammu and Kashmir Muslim League (Masrat Alam Group), and Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (Shabir Shah Group).
The searches were conducted in connection with suspected members of these organizations and their alleged involvement in unlawful activities.

The raids according to the police carried out under proper legal sanction, included the residences of prominent separatist leaders in Rajbagh, Habba Kadal, Batmaloo, Khanyar, Lal Bazar, and Chanpora. Authorities stated that the searches were conducted in the presence of an Executive Magistrate and independent witnesses.

The houses of some separatist leaders where raids were conducted belonged to Masrat Aalam, Shabir Shah, Professor Gani and others.(KNT)
