Encounter Breaks Out in Kathua

Kathua, March 27: An encounter broke out between security forces and militants in the Juthana area of Kathua on Thursday morning.

Officials told news agency JKNS that, security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the area following specific inputs about the presence of militants in the area.

As the forces zeroed in on the suspected location, they came under fire, triggering a gunfight, they said.

Intermittent firing was ongoing when last reports came in and additional reinforcements have been rushed to the spot.
