Mehbooba Mufti slams Omar for convening alliance meeting over employees’ transfers

Srinagar, Apr 04: Former Chief Minister and People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Mehbooba Mufti, today slammed the government lead by Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, for convening a meeting of the alliance partners over the issue of employees’ transfers.
Talking to reporters, the former Chief Minister said that the government instead of raising serious issues was holding a meeting over small issues like the transfer of Patwaris.

She said that the people have voted for larger issues like the release of prisoners from jails, and the government has surrendered before New Delhi on these crucial matters.

“People thought that a government will come to power and their rights which have been looted will be safeguarded. But during the six months since the  government was formed, there is no talk about termination of employees or of daily wagers rights. The government showed cowardice on these issues,” she said.
Mehbooba Mufti said the people voted in large numbers with the hope that an elected government  will address key issues which has however failed on major fronts. She hit out at Omar Abdullah for failing to raise the issue of the halt of Sringar-New Delhi railway service at Katra. “Have people voted for Patwaris’ transfers?” she asked.

On the passage of the Waqf Amendment bill in Rajya Sabha, PDP leader said that the Muslim institutions are being “bulldozed.” “This is like loot,” she said.

Earlier a meeting of the ruling alliance partners in Jammu and Kashmir was chaired by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah at the Deputy Chief Minister’s residence at Gupkar.  The meeting was attended, among others by National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah, senior leaders, and other legislators, including those from Congress, in the  aftermath of the transfer of 48 JKAS officers carried out by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.(Agencies)
