Encounter breaks out in Udhampur

Jammu, Apr 9: An encounter erupted in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district on Wednesday after security forces established contact with three militants , officials confirmed. The encounter took place in the village of Jopher, located in the Ramnagar police station area of Udhampur.According to Udhampur police, during a search operation conducted by police and security forces, contact was made with the terrorists. “Two to three militants are trapped,” the police said in a statement on X. The situation remains tense as firing continues at the encounter site.The operation follows a 17-day-long pursuit of the terrorists, who have been moving between different areas. The search began on March 24 in the Sanyial area of Kathua district, which had witnessed several encounters. On March 27, an encounter in the Kathua region resulted in the death of two terrorists and four policemen.The ongoing operation highlights the continued efforts by security forces to neutralize militants and maintain peace in the region.
