Baramulla | July 11:The Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) held a significant workers convention in Baramulla under the presidium of District President Mohd Rafique Rather. Abdul Haq Khan, former minister Basharat Bukhari, former MLA Kupwara Mir Fayaz Ahmad, Senior leader Gh.Hassan Rather and DDC Er.Razia Hassan, Zonal President Gh.Rasool Bhat besides all zonal and block leaders were present on the occasion and addressed the gathering.
Adv. Abdul Haq Khan, while addressing the convention, urged party workers to intensify their efforts on the ground to revive the party’s lost glory. He said, “The present government has failed miserably on all fronts. Public issues remain unresolved, and people continue to suffer.” Addressing a sizable Sikh audience in the convention, he appealed to them to support PDP, which he said is the only party capable of resolving their concerns.
Former Minister Basharat Bukhari highlighted the development works executed during the PDP’s tenure. He said, “Only the PDP has a proven track record of addressing public grievances sincerely. I assure the people of my full support and commitment to the party’s mission.”
Mir Fayaz, while speaking at the event, emphasized the party’s strong presence in the Assembly and the crucial issues PDP had raised in the past. He lashed out at the government for its failure on all fronts and called upon party workers to unite in order to defeat the National Conference (NC) in the upcoming Urban Local Body (ULB) and Panchayati Raj Institution (PRI) elections.
In his powerful address, District President Mohd Rafique Rather strongly criticized the NC-led government, calling it discriminatory and incompetent. “If NC leaders admit they have failed and are unable to deliver, they should resign instead of enjoying government perks and salaries,” Rather said. He reminded the NC leadership of the promises made in their election manifesto, declaring the nine-month rule of NC a “complete failure and humiliation to public mandate.”
Rather added, “People usually go to leaders to voice their concerns. Today, I have brought the top leadership of PDP to the people so they can listen to your grievances directly.”
Others who addressed the convention included District Secretary Javid Ahmad Bhat, Zonal President Gh. Rasool Bhat, Karanjit Singh, Kripal Singh, Arshid Ali, Mohd Shafi, and several other senior party members.
The convention concluded with a renewed sense of unity and determination among the party cadre to strengthen PDP’s presence at the grassroots and fight for the people’s rights.
