Are authorities helpless in Kulgam?

Kulgam, August 20: The illegal parking on the road as well as on the main gate of district hospital kulgam is causing great inconvenience to the ambulance services during an emergency, while the patients and their attendants and staff are left to suffer.

Sumo, maximo and auto drivers illegally park vehicles in front of the hospital gate are causing problems to the patients and their attendants. In case of emergency, the ambulances and even other vehicles carrying patients get stranded for some time.

Due to large number of Passenger vehicles being parked infront of the hospital gate even at times of emergency, patients have to face severe traffic mess before reaching to their destination.

Despite repeated complaints from patients, attendants, doctors and hospital staff, no effective action has been taken by the authorities to regulate the chaos

The entire entrence of the district hospital kulgam remains jam-packed throughout the day, E-rickshaws are parked in double lines, auto drivers solicit passengers loudly, and masala roti sellers block parts of the road, this is a hospital not a Market, said a patient

This area should be declared as no parking zone. Separate space should be provided by the Administration for passenger vehicle drivers and a few cops be deputed for managing traffic in the area. Otherwise, somebody might face tragedy in terms of life as an ambulance would not be able to pass through the choked road, said bashir ahmad another attendent

He further said that the MC Kulgam has been informed about it several times but they always come and make formal announcements rather than taking any actions.

Meanwhile, locals have urged deputy commissioner Kulgam, Athar Aamir Khan to personally look into the matter.
