PDP Baramulla Urges Government to Take Precautionary Measures Amid Heavy Rains

Baramulla, Aug 27: Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) has expressed deep concern on human cadualities as a result of flood and landslide in jammu division. The District President of PDP for Baramulla, Mohd Rafique Rather in a press statement expressed deep concern over the flood and landslide situation arising from continuous heavy rains across Jammu & Kashmir.

Rafique Rather said the party is deeply saddened by the loss of precious lives in Jammu and stands in solidarity with the families who have lost their dear ones and suffered damage to property, crops, businesses and livelihoods.

Criticizing the administration for its inaction, Rather said, “Measures for evacuation and protection should have been taken well in advance. Unfortunately, our government wakes up only after such tragedies occur, leading to loss of human lives, destruction of houses, businesses, crops, livestock, and even cutting off vital connectivity.”

He stressed the need for establishing a reliable early warning system and setting up temporary shelters in vulnerable areas, saying such preparedness could save countless lives and prevent large-scale damage. Rather urged the government to immediately mobilize men and machinery in flood-prone areas and keep them on high alert to prevent further loss.

Rather further said that PDP leadership and workers of District Baramulla, as per the directions of the party President Ms.Mehbooba Mufti Sahiba, are prepared to assist people in distress and have kept themselves ready in case such situation arises.

Rafique Rather said,“We should have learned lessons from the Doda and Kathua landslides, where around 100 people lost their lives, but sadly, we keep repeating the same mistakes and continue to suffer,” he added.
