Tensions in Tehran: Indian Students Relocated to Safer Areas

Tehran, March 4, 2026: Amid ongoing strikes and rising tensions in Iran’s capital, the Embassy of India in Tehran has confirmed that most Indian students have been moved to safer locations outside the city as a precautionary measure.

According to an official statement, the decision was taken due to heightened security risks in Tehran. The embassy has arranged transportation, accommodation, and food for the relocated students. Videos circulating on social media showed students traveling by bus to areas away from the capital.

The embassy clarified that a small number of students have chosen to remain in Tehran. Those staying back have been advised to remain indoors, avoid windows, limit unnecessary movement, and stay away from protest sites or crowded areas. They have also been instructed to remain in regular contact with the embassy.

Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister stated that students from Kashmir currently in Iran are being shifted to relatively safer areas within the country.

Earlier, Iran’s Consul General had announced that Indian students and other citizens would be allowed to leave Iran through designated border points and would only require a valid passport to cross into neighboring countries.

With tensions escalating in the region, diplomatic efforts are underway to ensure the safety and evacuation of foreign nationals.
