PSA misused, fight for statehood to end It: MP Aga Ruhullah

Srinagar, Sept 11: National Conference MP Aga Ruhullah on Thursday said the Public Safety Act (PSA), originally framed to stop timber smuggling, has now been turned into a tool of misuse against people.

Ruhullah reminded that the NC, in its manifesto, had promised to revoke the PSA once Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood is restored. He said that without the return of statehood, no meaningful legal change can be achieved.

“PSA was made to stop timber smuggling but today it is misused against people. National Conference promised to end PSA after restoring statehood. We must not forget that fight only by regaining statehood can we bring real legal change,” Ruhullah said.

He also accused the leadership of ignoring the core fight for empowerment. “People voted for empowerment and accountability, but the focus has shifted. We must fight together to regain our powers and fulfill the promises made,” he added.(KNS)
