Body of young labourer recovered from Wular Lake after week-long search

Bandipora, Sep 12: The body of a young labourer, who had gone missing a week ago, was recovered from Wular Lake in Bandipora on Friday morning.

Locals and police said the deceased has been identified as Amir Ahmed Dar, 25, son of Gulzar Ahmad, resident of Baniyari Sharki village of Sonawari. His body was spotted by sand workers at Laharwarpura stretch of Wular Lake, seven days after he had drowned.

Reports said Amir had drowned in Nichiyari Nallah at Baniyari while extracting sand. Despite continuous efforts, his body could not be traced until today when it surfaced in the lake.

Police have taken cognizance of the matter and completed necessary legal formalities. [KNT]
