Soldier Killed in Blast in Sarankote,Poonch

Poonch, Sept 29: An Army soldier was killed on Monday evening after a grenade explosion occurred inside the headquarters of 16 Rashtriya Rifles in Surankote area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district.

Officials said that the blast took place around 7:45 p.m. and led to the death of a soldier. 

Officials added that it is not immediately clear whether the incident was caused by a militant attack or resulted from an accidental blast.

“Investigations are underway. At this stage, it would be premature to draw conclusions about the nature of the incident.”.
